Limpopo's parts trade runs through Polokwane. The city sits on the N1 halfway between Gauteng and the Beitbridge border, and it's the natural hub for the province: yards and parts dealers here serve not just the city but the long tail of towns around it, and a fair amount of cross-border demand heading for Zimbabwe. Smaller pockets of supply exist around Tzaneen, Louis Trichardt/Makhado and the mining towns of the Steelpoort valley, but Polokwane is where most searches start.
What Limpopo driving does to cars
This is a province of long distances, heat and gravel, and cars show all three. Rural roads hammer the undercarriage: shocks, control arms, ball joints, wheel bearings and exhausts wear fast, and stone-chipped windscreens are a fact of life. The heat does its own damage over time: perished door rubbers, cracked dash tops, faded trim and hard-worked cooling systems, so radiators, fans and aircon parts move steadily. If you're buying interior parts, sun damage is the first thing to check.
The fleet is bakkie and 4x4 country as much as anywhere in South Africa: Hilux and Land Cruiser for the farms and game farms, Isuzu and Ranger for the mines and municipalities, plus the NP200s and older Corollas doing daily work in the towns. Mining activity around Burgersfort, Steelpoort and Lephalale keeps double-cab and LDV parts in demand, and the N1 truck traffic to the border adds a steady commercial layer. The honest picture on supply
Polokwane yards cover the common requests reasonably well, and the province generates good donor stock for exactly the vehicles people here drive. A Hilux part is easier to find in Limpopo than a Golf part. For anything beyond that, Gauteng is the backstop, and it's close: parts found in Pretoria or Johannesburg are on a courier the same day and usually with you the next morning. Most of the province is within a day's courier reach of the country's biggest parts stock, which matters more than the size of the local market.
